That's right folks - Kels & I are planning another adventure!  This time is a trip that Kels has been wanting to do for about 15+ years - the Bowron Lake circuit.  And I must admit that as soon as he told me about it I was dying to go too.  It's just taken us a very long time to commit to it lol.  So we are planning on heading out there in September (no actual date has been confirmed as yet as we cannot book it until this summer) but plans are in progress and we are physically working ourselves up to it!

A little background on Bowron:

(From the BC Parks Website)
"Bowron Lake Park is a large wilderness area situated on the western slopes of the Cariboo Mountain Range. The world-renowned Bowron Lake Canoe Circuit encompasses a 116 km chain of lakes, waterways and connecting portages. This wilderness canoe trip takes from 6 to 10 days to complete, depending on your time frame and skill level.
The park has tremendous diversity in topography and vegetation. The rounded hilltops of the Quesnel Highlands on the west side of the circuit have a unique character quite different from the imposing Cariboo Mountains on the eastern and southern sections of the circuit. The park is a place of many moods, from bright sunshine and placid blue lakes to angry gray waters and torrential rains."

Have no fear folks, both Kels & I have had a lot of experience with camping and paddling, most of which was instilled as children growing up in the OK and camping trips as youngsters.  In adulthood we have gone camping, backpacking and many whitewater rafting trips.  There is some things that will be new to us - carrying 40-60lb packs and portaging but the packs just require some upbuilding of stamina and the portaging will be a learn as you go.

We figure that we will take 2 weeks - drive straight there, take the full 10 days to leisurely paddle our way through, get back to civilization, check out Barkerville and area and drive home.  Nothing like living without showering, use nature as a toilet and straining muscles propelling yourself through the wilds to appreciate nature!!

So stay tuned for tidbits of updates for the next few months and then the trip itself!

We are so very excited!!
